The eighth general group of the College of Cardinals was held on Friday, May 2, 2025 in the Vatican, which begins immediately at 9:00 am with a moment of prayer, after stopping Thursday 1, a holiday in Italy, the Vatican and other countries. The Church has been described as a promising brotherly company, whose testimony must be clear and consistent with the message of Christ. In this sense, many Cardinals emphasized the duty of Christian martyrdom and the danger of sexual and financial scandals, which causes credibility in the ecclesiastical mission. The evangelical clip “Remembrance of how your love, they will get to know you”, as an invitation to the visual unit and brotherly love as a sign of originality.
The other attention point was the churches of the East, which sparked its suffering, at the same time realizing the strength of their testimonies in the contexts of persecution and conflict.
The Mass also occupied a great place in the debate, not only as a spiritual source but also as an engine for the church’s mission. In line with this, the main role of the Eucharist was highlighted in the missionary key.
Dialogue also dealt with issues related to the law of ecclesiastical, the need to enhance the synod, the episcopal sentence, and the challenges of secularism. There was an important reflection on the interpretative continuity between Pontefan San Juan Paul II, Bennedict XVI and Pope Francis, which confirms the dynamic sincerity to deposit faith in changing cultural contexts.

Matteo Brunei was also consulted about rumors related to an alleged health problem that would affect the Cardinal Petro Parolin the day before.
